The Club recently donated two AED units to be used at the Oakland and Kitzmiller locations of the Ruth Enlow Library. Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are lightweight, portable devices that deliver an electric shock through the chest to the heart when they detect an abnormal rhythm and change the rhythm back to normal. “We are thrilled to support our libraries and their employees and visitors through this donation. As a service organization, Rotary is very much aligned with the mission and goals of our library and all of the great work it does in our community,” stated Rotary of Oakland Club president Mike Tumbarello.
The Rotary Club of Oakland meets on Thursdays for lunch at the Oakland American Legion on Memorial Drive across from Garrett Regional Medical Center and welcomes all interested in becoming a member. The Club’s Satellite group meets once a month in the evening at various restaurants in and around Oakland. The Club may also be reached by phone at 301.501.0190 or via email at OaklandRotary1925@gmail.com. Here is the club’s website and Facebook page.
