Race Results for the Garrett Co Composite Mountain Biking team at Fair Hill NRMA in Elkton, MD held on October 23, 2022

The Garrett County Coyotes traveled to the far northeast corner of Maryland to compete in the Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League (MICL) race series on October 23, 2022. The MICL Fair Hill race course had a balanced mixture of sweet singletrack trails, short technical sections, gravel roads, and a long grassy field climb! It was by far the fastest course MICL has raced on this season. Riders had to draw on their fitness and grit to maintain the sprint-like pace set by the top racers in each division.

The Coyotes showed tremendous grit and determination as a team, finishing in 17th place in the field of 23 other teams. The entire Coyote Coaching staff and parents are all so proud of their efforts! In the Girls’ 6th grade Division, Aspen Smith, for the second race in a row, took 2nd place. She completed her two-lap race (3.2 miles per lap) with a time of 41 mins and 13 seconds. The Anderson sisters both recorded a 6th place in their respective divisions. Ava, racing in the Girls’ 7th-grade div., completed 2 laps in 42:38.35., while sophomore Ashlynn finished her 2-lap race in the Girls’ JV2 Div. in 40:59.43

Nathan Aldridge finished an impressive 6th place in the Boys Varsity Div., racing 13 miles in 52:47.68. In the Boys JV1 Div., Jackson Hordubay pushed through 3 laps to finish the 10-mile race in a very respectable 22nd place among a division full of seniors, juniors, and sophomores. The Coyote middle school boys had a great showing for their race event! 8th grader Cooper Haley earned the 13th place, pushing a super fast pace to finish in 33:21.70 in the two-lap race. Teammates Henry Faulkner and Andrew SanJulian were only a couple minutes behind Haley, as Faulkner finished 23rd in 35:29.84 and SanJulian in 31st with a time of 36:42.37. Cam Hudnall had a great race competing in the Boys’ 7th grade Div. His race time was 37:21.84, earning 15th, his best finish so far, in a field of 51 riders. Ryan Aldridge also had a great race. He earned his first  bonus lap of the season, completed 2 laps in 56:28.75, and finished in 35th place. For full race results, go to: https://my.raceresult.com/223113/#0_4C8C1F.
