The proposed calendar for Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS) for the 2022-2023 school year, as developed by the GCPS Calendar Committee, was presented to the Board of Education at its monthly meeting Tuesday, March 8, 2022. The committee is comprised of parents, teachers, staff/administrators, a Board member, and the Student Board member. The Board is expected to vote on the calendar at its next monthly Board meeting, April 12, 2022. This calendar proposes a pre-Labor Day start, which sets the first day for students as Monday, August 29, 2022.

January 16, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – No School

February 20, Presidents’ Day – No School
April 6-7, 10, Spring Break – No School
May 30, Memorial Day – No School
June 1, Students’ Last Day
June 3, High School Graduation
There are ten (10) possible make-up days included in the calendar: November 28th*, April 6th*, January 16th*, February 20th*, April 10th*, and June 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th (ordered by make-up use as needed).
The proposed 2022-2023 school calendar can be viewed in its entirety on the GCPS website. The Board seeks public feedback on the proposed calendar from March 8, 2022, through April 8, 2022, at noon.
