Pro Cycling Team Enjoys Deep Creek Lake Training Camp

If you’re out this weekend, you just may see Team Skyline Cycling in the Deep Creek Lake area. They wear their own “Skyline Green” lime green jerseys (or tops) and may be riding their bikes in a line and pacing themselves using a Vespa scooter.  They’ll stay on the shoulders of the road or in the dedicated bike lanes and travel about 20-25mph. And then, you just may see them on tv in two weeks.

Team Skyline is a worldwide continental cycling team. That is a professional cycling team that competes in continental-level races around the world. These teams are typically composed of cyclists from different countries and aim to compete in international races and tours.

The 2023 men’s team is here for a team training camp, and I had the privilege to sit and talk with the group. I met the athletes Jeff Watts, Joseph Lupien, Nick Kleban, Cian Keogh, Lucas Poupard, Niko Salazar, Lukas Conly, Stephen Pimentel, Chaz Turmon, Performance Director Michael Norton, and Sports Director (and team Founder) Michael Tacci.

We covered a lot of ground to educate me on the professional cycling circuit and I’ll share a more detailed article next week. If you do see the team out training, they really appreciate a wave and a “Hello!”.
