Spring is a special time in the C&O Canal National Historical Park (NHP). Flowers burst into bloom along the towpath. The sun rises earlier and sets later, shining across the Potomac River. Birds gather in greening trees, bringing with them songs of warmer weather. We are entering our high season and welcoming an influx of visitors. The C&O Canal Trust encourages the public to take an active role in supporting the preservation and protection of our park’s resources.
As a supporter of the Trust, you know how important volunteer power is for the C&O Canal NHP, especially during a time when visitation surges.
Each spring, the Trust engages hundreds of volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, including trail maintenance and beautification, invasive species removal, and historic preservation projects. Our dedicated volunteers provide critical support to the park, helping to ensure that its resources are here for future generations. Your contribution will help sustain and grow the C&O Canal Trust’s operations, develop programs, raise awareness, measure impact, and secure long-term viability.
It is up to us, our canal community, to preserve and protect our local national park.
You can help us make a greater impact by giving today.
