Pennies for Premies

December 8th, 1984 is the first day Melanie Smith got home after her very premature birth. She spent her first 412 days admitted at West Virginia University Hospital. So today seems like the perfect day to tell you about a fundraiser that we are initiating to support families of Premies like Mel.
Mel currently collects pop tabs and delivers them to the Ronald McDonald House in Morgantown. (Please let me know if you ever have pop tabs you would like to give to Mel. We will pick them up from you and deliver them to the RMH.)
We would like to add to that and offer a new way for Mel to give back to the RMH. We want to challenge our friends and family to help collect 41200 pennies or $412.00. (One dollar for every day she was a patient.) This money will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House in honor of Mel and other premature babies.
We’re calling the fundraiser “Pennies for Premies”!
Anyone who donates will have a Christmas ornament decorated by Mel in their honor. The ornaments will be used to decorate a tree that will be on display at Riggleman’s and Son’s Flooring Store. All money collected will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House for all that they do to help families of children admitted to Ruby Memorial Hospital.
To donate, you can contact Babette by texting/calling 301-616-8119. We can pick up your donation if you would like. You can also drop money off at Riggleman’s and Son’s Flooring Store. The store is located at 89 Pleasant Hill Drive, Oakland, Md 21550.
Please help Mel by donating your pennies to help support Pennies for Premies!
