The Oakland Youth Football & Cheerleading League (OYFL) is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its inaugural holiday toy drive. Through the overwhelming generosity of players, families, and the local community, the league collected over 100 new, unwrapped toys to benefit children throughout the region.
The collection was officially donated to the local Toys for Tots program this week. To mark the occasion, OYFL President Jay Lewis and Treasurer Nicole McCullough met with Dora Hanlin of Toys for Tots to hand over the donations and celebrate the spirit of giving that defines the Christmas holiday.
“Our goal with this drive was to tackle holiday hardship and ensure that every child in our community has a reason to smile on Christmas morning,” said Jay Lewis, OYFL President. “Seeing our football families come together to support such a worthy cause has been truly inspiring. This is a testament to the character and heart of our league.”
The donated items ranged from infant toys to gifts tailored for young children up to teenagers, addressing a critical need for all age groups within the county. The OYFL plans to make this toy drive an annual tradition, growing its impact year after year.
The Oakland Youth Football League extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who dropped off a donation or shared the word about the drive. Together, the community has achieved a “game-winning” result for local families.
