PUBLIC NOTICE:
Oakland Sewer Project to begin Monday on Second Street, Other Work to Follow

The Town of Oakland is announcing that water and sewer improvements will begin on Monday, July 30, 2018. This work was anticipated to be completed prior to Memorial Day, however the Town of Oakland experienced delays in funding approvals and subsequent delays in getting the necessary equipment and manholes built and delivered.

The first part of the construction will begin with the sewer collector system improvements on Second Street between the railroad crossing and Center Street. The majority of this work will be evening/night work which will begin at 5 pm in an effort to avoid daytime disruption to the businesses and to allow uninterrupted daytime access to Second and Alder Streets. Individuals living in this area are asked to please be patient during this construction period.

Daytime construction work will also be occurring in the North Fourth Street and Memorial Drive areas with water line improvements near the hospital area. Access/entrance to the hospital will be maintained. Additionally, there will be water line improvements in the Country Club Acres area including the main transmission line serving that area. Improvements will also be made at the Oakland and Broadford Water Plants.

During these improvements, every effort will be made to maintain traffic flow. Unfortunately, Oakland Water Customers may experience cloudy water during this time. The Mayor and Town Council of Oakland apologize for any inconvenience.
