Oakland Police Investigate Burglary at Local Restaurant

Officers from the Oakland Police Department and Garrett County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the May 2nd forced entry of the Oakland Golf Course and burglary of Shrimp on the Barbie.

On Sunday, May 2nd, at approximately 7:28am, officers responded to the Oakland Golf Course, located at 433 North Bradley Lane, for the report of a burglary that had occurred in the early morning hours.

Upon arrival to work, a golf course employee noticed the lights did not turn on when switched and the door to the backroom was damaged and on the floor. Investigation by officers determined that the suspects entered the premises from a rear patio door at approximately 4:24am after pulling the outside electrical meter from the panel wall, causing a power outage.

The investigation revealed instances of destruction of property, including the forced entry of numerous doors. Nothing was taken from the pro-shop; however, the cash drawer from the restaurant was taken and an electronic Juke Box and electronic Dart Board game were damaged and the monies inside taken.
