Nurturing Nature and Trees by Accident: Mountain Laurel Garden Club Announces 2026 Garden Tour

The Mountain Laurel Garden Club (MLGC) will host its signature Garden Tour, celebrating gardening, conservation, and community engagement.

The 2026 Garden Tour, Nurturing Nature and Trees by Accident, will take place Saturday, June 27, from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. The self-guided tour includes Honey Moon natural food and flower farm, Hickory Environmental Education Center, Cove Pastures @ Branch Bender Cidery, and My Historic Home on Cove Road. All locations are conveniently located off U.S. Route 219 in Accident, Maryland.

Tour highlights include a working regenerative farm, colorful flower fields, an 1800’s home and garden steeped in history, a native plant meadow, a native tree arboretum, a chestnut grove, natural woods and streams, and a first look at the newly completed Naylor Family Tree Observation Area at Hickory Environmental Education Center. Additional attractions include floral arranging demonstrations, live music, and food for sale. Tickets are $15.00. Students are free. Through the Garrett College Foundation, MLGC awards an annual scholarship to a sophomore studying agriculture, forestry, environment, horticulture, or natural resources and wildlife technology. Additional scholarships support a local student attending the Natural Resources Career Camp through the Garrett County Forestry Board and continuing education for club members.

MLGC has 88 members and is part of the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland. MLGC member Donna H. Miller of Swanton currently serves as president of the state federation, with several MLGC members holding leadership positions at the state level.
