New Germany State Park sits near Grantsville, surrounded by Savage River State Forest, and centers on a small lake that’s good for fishing, swimming and paddling. About 10 miles of multi-use trails wind through the hemlocks and hardwoods for hiking and mountain biking.
In winter, park staff groom and track the trails for cross-country skiing when there’s enough snow, and snowshoers are welcome as long as they stay off the ski tracks. There’s no cell service in the park, so download a map before you go.
Check today’s conditions on the DCAB Trail Conditions page before you head out. Every trail below links to its own page with distance, difficulty and blaze color.
