Narrative:

Shortly after 3:30 AM on Friday, November 1, troopers from the Maryland State Police McHenry
Barrack responded to the area of westbound Interstate 68, near the Maryland/West Virginia State Line for a report of a two-vehicle crash involving a Maryland State Trooper.

According to a preliminary investigation, an on-duty State Trooper, operating his marked patrol vehicle was conducting an oversized load escort that was traveling westbound on 1-68, when the escort concluded and the trooper attempted to travel toward the emergency crossover and for unknown reasons, was subsequently struck by a GMC pickup. Both the Trooper and the operator of the GMC, a 47-year-old male, were transported by ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The crash investigation is active and ongoing.
