The Mountain Maryland Gateway to the West Heritage Area is now accepting nominations for the third annual Peggy Jamison Preservation Award. This award honors a corporation, business, nonprofit organization, or individual who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Garrett County.
The Peggy Jamison Preservation Award recognizes exemplary efforts that align with one or more of the interpretive themes identified in the Heritage Area’s Management Plan, including Transportation, Man and Nature, Historic Recreation, and Cultural Uniqueness. Nominees should reflect a lasting dedication to heritage preservation through education, advocacy, stewardship, or hands-on involvement in local history initiatives.
“I am pleased to once again recognize a deserving member of our community who has worked to preserve our history and leave a meaningful legacy for future generations,” said Amber Sanders, Heritage Area Director. “This award highlights the dedication and passion that so many individuals and organizations bring to protecting Garrett County’s unique heritage.”
Eligible nominees include individuals, businesses, corporations, and nonprofit organizations. Nomination forms are available online at visitdeepcreek.com/awards/, by emailing amber@garrettchamber.com or
teresa@garrettchamber.com, or by visiting the Garrett County Visitors Center located at 15 Visitors Center Drive in McHenry. The Visitors Center is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
