Yesterday was rainy and cooler. The weather for today will be scattered showers, mainly before 5pm. High near 58 and low around 57. Southeast wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Spent the weekend in New York for a family event.  Long Island was very hectic and congested and my wife Jean and I are very happy to be back in Garrett County.  Whenever we see the barn quilt on Interstate 68, we breath a sigh of relief and know we are almost home.

Penn Alps Restaurant and Craft Shop is hosting a bluegrass, gospel, and old-time jam this evening from 6:00pm – 8:00pm.

The Cherry Glade Mennonite Church in Accident, which is celebrating its 80th year, is offering a gospel concert by The Chuck Wagon Gang on October 5th. The Gang was inducted- along with Neal McCoy, Irlene Mandrell, Linda Davis, Leon Rausch, Red Steagall, and several other Texas country music icons- into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage, Texas recently. Contact the church at 301.616.8113 for more information.

Heard the Garrett Mentors dance this weekend was a big hit as always! Congratulations to all involved for another great event.

The Garrett County Health Department is sponsoring Drug Take Back Day in the county on October 17th. This is a great opportunity to get rid of old prescription or over-the-counter medications.

Small businesses in Maryland that provide paid sick and safe leave to their employees will soon be able to apply for a refundable tax credit administered by the Maryland Department of Commerce. The Small Business Relief Tax Credit offers businesses that meet certain criteria a state income tax credit of up to $500 per employee and $7,000 per small business for every year in which they qualify.
