The Mayor and Town Council of Oakland wishes to notify Oakland Water Customers in the area of Winters Place and to include Sunshine Drive, that water service will be interrupted Monday, May 14 between the hours of 8am to 12pm.

Join Maria Day of the Maryland State Archives for an interesting history presentation this evening from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Casselman Inn in Grantsville. The presentation will provide a virtual tour of state attractions and events in the early 20th century.

The Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its bi-monthly Business Before Hours for Tuesday, May 15th at Wisp Resort. This “Legislative Wrap-up” will provide information on legislation that impacts Garrett County citizens and businesses.

Just received the official announcement that End-of-the-Line Bookstore will be opening on May 23rd for the summer season. (End-of-the-Line Books is a not-for-profit bookstore that resells used books for $1.00 or less, to benefit charities. It is located in the historic boxcar at the B&O Railway Station on East Liberty Street in Oakland. The bookstore is open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am – 3:00pm.)

Don’t forget that the Maryland DNR will be treating parts of the lake for the invasive weed hydrilla. The first treatment is scheduled for June 4th. Check out this link for more information.

Speaking of the lake, The Maryland Department of Natural Resources invites new or experienced anglers to enjoy Maryland’s License Free Fishing Days Jun 2nd, 9th, and July 4th.
