There is a new opportunity for Appalachia through the Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (WORC) program. the program will support workforce development activities that prepare eligible participants for good jobs in high-demand occupations aligned with a state, regional, or community economic development strategy. There is a cancer screening program available for Garrett County residents ages 50-64 who are uninsured or underinsured and meet income guidelines. Breast, cervical, colorectal, prostate, oral, and skin cancer are evaluated by local participating providers. Appointments are required — call the main number 301-334-7770 for more information.
The Garrett County Chamber has announced the 2020 Chamber Trip from March 21-28, 2020 will go to Peru: Ancient Land of Mysteries! if you may be interested, mark your calendar and register for the trip preview on August 12.
