Maryland State Arts Council’s folklife program, Maryland Traditions, recognizes outstanding stewardship of Maryland’s living traditions. Each year, three awards are made in the categories of person/people, place and tradition. Nominations are due TODAY Monday, July 30.

An interesting tidbit here is that the Maryland Traditions awards were created in 2007 and were then called the “Achievement in Living Traditions and Arts (ALTA) Awards,” named in honor of folklorist and Garrett County community leader Dr. Alta Schrock (1911-2001).

The students who recently earned their GED or workforce program certificate through Garrett College Continuing Education and Workforce Development were recently honored and celebrated at a graduation ceremony. Congrats grads!
