A big shoutout to Walt, Karen, Bob, Kevin, Don, Jill, Michele, Emily, Misty, Haley, and Barb (and plus the 3 others that I didn’t catch their name) for their work at the famous Rotary Fry Booth over the weekend! These volunteers had the process down to a science and made my Saturday shift just fly by! Through this, we were also able to obtain a donation for the County United Way! Thank you!

Walt said Rotary went through about SIX TONS of potatoes! And I thought I had an exhausting but awesome fair week!

I know this doesn’t impact us here in Garrett County but I know several readers who live near these roads: Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is reminding the public that one week remains in the comment period for the proposed High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lane toll rate ranges for Phase 1 South: American Legion Bridge I-270 to I-370.

Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has announced the availability of $19.5 million in grant funding for after school programs as part of its American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds.
