Member Survey Regarding Commercial Removal of Submerged Aquatic Vegetation

The Property Owners’ Association of Deep Creek Lake is initiating this survey to gauge members’ interest in using a contractor to remove unwanted nearshore SAV from around their docks and lakefronts. We appreciate your response, which will be shared with the DNR.

Background: Last year, the DNR conducted a trial using a “harvester” to mechanically remove SAV from three selected areas of the lake. The tests were successful, and the DNR has decided to implement a permit system that would allow property owners to contract this service, assuming a unit is available. This would be similar to hiring someone to maintain your lawn. While the cost is unknown, the level of interest in this type of service is also unclear, and this survey will help provide needed data.

Please respond by clicking the link below and completing the survey by April 30, 2026.
