Longtime Public Servant and Former Mayor of Luke, Maryland, Considers Candidacy to Represent Garrett and Allegany Counties

Reverend Edward Clemons, Jr., is pleased to announce the establishment of an exploratory committee for the office of Delegate in District 1A of the Maryland House of Delegates. Rev. Clemons has a robust background in public service, having initially volunteered with the Garrett County Republican Central Committee over 20 years ago and later being elected to the committee in 2006, where he assumed various roles. Rev. Clemons served seven consecutive terms as mayor of Luke, Maryland, until 2024. He served on the Maryland Municipal League Legislative Committee and as past Allegany-Garrett Municipal League Chapter president. Clemons is the current president of the North Branch Lions Club and serves as the lead pastor of two churches in Northeast Garrett County. Rev. Clemons has been married to Cherish Parsons Clemons for over 18 years. Rev. Clemons stated he is honored to explore options for the position of delegate to continue serving the people of Garrett and Allegany County. “We must work to preserve and protect our rural communities and ensure we make it the best place to live now and for generations to come.
