Leadership Garrett County kicks off third year

Class is officially in session for members of Leadership Garrett County. The first session for the program’s third class was held at Garrett College last Thursday, September 20th.

Throughout the course of the program, participants will learn about the art and science of leadership in a community setting. The group will meet once a month to learn, discuss and network with existing and future leaders.

Presentations were given by Mike Tumbarello and Marty Hill. Tumbarello is the director of enrollment management at Garrett College and he discussed ‘Success for Leaders’. Hill is a current board member at Mountain Laurel Medical Center and a retired Booz Allen Hamilton partner and former Client Service Officer for the National Security Agency Market. He gave a presentation on ‘Servant Leadership’.

“Mike Tumbarello and Marty Hill did a fantastic job of relating personal stories, real life experiences, community involvement, and what it means to them to be a successful leader,” stated Jodi McClintock, director of business solutions at GC. “Two motivational and inspirational speakers to help set the stage for Leadership Garrett County.”

One of the highlights of the first session was a tour of the College’s new Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) building. Kathy Meagher, GC’s director of facilities, provided an overview of the STEM project and tour of the new facility.
