The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Garrett County Department of Business Development, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, October 13, 2025, to celebrate the grand opening of Joyful Journeys Wellness in Oakland, Maryland.
The event was led by Nick Sharps, President of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce. Local leaders in attendance included Oakland Town Councilmembers Jay Moyer and Scott Lohr.
Garrett County Diplomats Kim Carter, Stephanie Filsinger, and Kristin Skeweris also took part in the celebration, presenting owner Jessica Moran with a First Dollar of Profit Certificate and assisting with the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
“Everything I do here is built around 3 core values- creativity, connection, & care,” said Moran. “When we engage our hands and hearts together, healing begins. My hope is that Joyful Journeys Wellness will become a place where people can come to pause, breathe, and reconnect; a place to celebrate small moments, find light in difficult times, and remember that none of us have to walk our journey alone.”
Joyful Journeys Wellness is a holistic mental health practice located at 220 S. 3rd Street, Suite 2, Oakland, MD 21550. Founded by licensed social worker Jessica, the practice blends traditional therapy with expressive arts, mindfulness, and wellness-centered support to help individuals reconnect with their inner strength and rediscover joy.

Joyful Journeys provides a compassionate, client-centered environment for those navigating trauma, life transitions, anxiety, depression, or seeking personal growth. The practice believes healing is a journey, not a destination, and is committed to walking alongside each client with creativity, care, and intention.
“Jessica, congratulations on creating a space where folks can take that all-important step toward balance and healing,” said Sharps. “We know the journey to opening a business isn’t always easy, but we’re so glad yours led you right here in Garrett County. Here’s to many joyful journeys ahead.”The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce is the largest professional business association in the region, with 500 members representing every industry in the community.
