Bridging Gaps, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is on a mission to help people navigate challenging times with practical assistance. One of their top priorities is ensuring that the most vulnerable areas receive the help they need. Right now, they need your support to make a difference in the lives of children facing food insecurity here in Garrett County.
Did you know that nearly 50% of the children in Garrett County don’t have enough food to sustain them over the weekends? That’s why they’ve launched the Feeding Futures 2024-2025 Pilot Program at Broad Ford Elementary. Every weekend, 100 students will receive a bag filled with kid-friendly, easy-to-prepare non-perishable items to ensure they have something to eat for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. ???? - Can’t volunteer? Tax-deductible donations of funds to support this initiative are just as valuable! How Can I Help | Bridging Gaps (bridginggapsnonprofit.org). All of the Bridging Gaps team are volunteers, and they have no overhead costs so every penny donated will go toward the monthly grocery bill for the food to stock the weekend bags for the Broad Ford children. One month of groceries (for 100 kids each weekend) is $2950, so food for the entire school year is $26,550 – they have raised $16,667 so far, and are working hard to raise the remaining $9,883 to cover the last few months of the school year.
