Brenda Hartsell was recently named the 2023 Employee of the Year at Garrett Regional Medical Center (GRMC).

The nomination stated Hartsell was recognized for going above and beyond in providing care for one of her patients. Her persistent follow-up, determination, and caring personality led to the patient receiving their essential treatment.

“I was only caring for my patient the way I would want my family to be treated,” said Hartsell, a community health worker at GRMC. “It’s why I do what I do.”

“The Employee of the Year Award is an incredible honor at GRMC, and Brenda is incredibly deserving of this award,” remarked Mark Boucot, President and CEO of GRMC and Potomac Valley Hospital. “Brenda truly embodies our mission statement and cares for her patients as if they were her own family. We are very thankful to have Brenda as part of our team at GRMC.”

GRMC’s Patient Experience, Safety & Employee Engagement Council, whose membership is comprised of GRMC’s frontline staff, created the Employee of the Year program. Employees can nominate a fellow teammate for employee of the month and nominations are voted upon by staff members.

The Employee of the Year is voted upon by GRMC’s administration based on the monthly award recipients.
