HART to Hold “MuttMinster” Dog Show

HART for Animals is hosting its second “MuttMinster” Dog Show on Saturday, April 21. It’s a fundraising event to help raise awareness of the joys of pet adoption. All dogs are eligible to compete in this event, which will highlight their beauty, diversity and intelligence. The fundraiser will take place at the Garrett College Special Events Center from noon to 5:00 PM. Registration is required in advance, online at www.hartforanimals.org/muttminster, or by calling HART at 301.387.7729.

“We’re excited to continue our celebration of the HART Adoption Wing Anniversary,” says Caroline Robison, Rescue & Intake Manager at the Adoption Wing. “We hope to see many of our adopted dogs, but all dogs, no matter where they came from, are eligible!” In 2017, 332 dogs and cats were adopted from the HART Animal Center. Since opening the Adoption Wing in April of 2016, 580 animals have found new homes.

Dog owners may register more than one dog in six group categories: Puppy, Toy, Terrier, Sporting, Working/Herding, and Seniors. Information on each group category may be found on the HART website at www.hartforanimals.org/muttminster. This fun dog show is open to all dogs, but also highlights the diversity and charm of adopted ones. The cost to register each dog is $25. Spectators may purchase tickets at the door for $5.00, which includes five Best-of-Show voting tickets.

The Chrostowski Family Adoption Wing at HART opened in April of 2016, to provide a safe haven for homeless animals in Garrett County and Western Maryland. In 2017, HART saved 816 dogs and cats through their rescue and transport, and adoption programs, and performed 742 low and no-cost spay/neuters for low-income families. Proceeds from “MuttMinster” will benefit the care and wellbeing of the adoptable animals.

Registration forms must be received by April 16. For more information, please call 301.387.7729, or visit the HART website at www.hartforanimals.org/muttminster.
