GRMC Foundation Summer Soiree Raises Over $50,000 for Radiation Oncology

The Garrett Regional Medical Center (GRMC) Foundation’s Summer Soiree, held at The Red Barn on August 15th, raised more than $50,000 to support the Foundation’s Radiation Oncology Campaign and Garrett Regional Medical Center’s expansion of cancer care in the region.

The GRMC Foundation recently launched the Radiation Oncology Campaign to support GRMC’s efforts to expand cancer care through the addition of radiation oncology services. The campaign will help support the expansion of the GRMC Cancer Center to include radiation therapy, helping ensure patients have access to comprehensive, high-quality cancer care close to home.

Currently, many patients in the region must travel significant distances, often every day for several weeks, to receive radiation therapy. These trips can create a significant physical, emotional, and financial burden for patients and their families during an already difficult time. By bringing radiation oncology services to GRMC, patients will have the opportunity to receive treatment closer to home, allowing them to remain near their families, support systems and community throughout their cancer journey.

“The support shown at the Summer Soiree is a wonderful example of the community engagement with the hospital and our plans for building a radiation oncology program at GRMC,” said Mark Boucot, Garrett Regional Medical Center president and CEO. “Expanding cancer care close to home will make a meaningful difference for patients and their families, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who is helping make this vision possible.”

The Foundation is grateful to everyone who attended and supported the Summer Soiree, as well as the sponsors whose generosity helped make the evening a success. Their support will directly contribute to the Foundation’s efforts to help expand cancer care at GRMC.

GRMC and the Foundation would like to thank the following sponsors who donated to the event including, title sponsors, Don & Elizabeth Morin; dinner sponsor, Dr. Willis and Robin McGill; bar sponsor, Skidmore Digital; entertainment sponsor, First United Bank & Trust; gold sponsors Bob and Mary Alice Simpson, Thousand Acres Golf Club, Taylor-Made Sales; silver sponsor BJ & Krista Davisson, and bronze sponsors Crystal Brady – Mountainside Legal, Ruth and Wendell Beitzel, Kim Clarke, Dr. Stanley Lambert, Mascaro Construction, Railey Realty and Keith and Juliet Sanders.

The more than $50,000 raised at the Summer Soiree represents an important step forward in the Radiation Oncology Campaign and the effort to bring radiation therapy services to Garrett Regional Medical Center.
