Garrett Regional Medical Center’s (GRMC) primary and urgent care facility in Grantsville, which opened a year ago and was originally called Grantsville Medical Associates, has been rebranded Grantsville Medical Center to better reflect the growing list of specialty medical services now provided at the facility.
“When we opened our Grantsville location, it was with the express purpose of meeting the primary and urgent care needs of Garrett’s northern communities and the surrounding areas of western Allegany County and Pennsylvania,” says Kendra Thayer, Vice President of Patient Care Services at GRMC. “Once we were established, we really saw the need not only for those services, but for a number of medical specialty services as well. Rather than expecting the Grantsville community to travel for specialty care, we thought it made more sense to bring those additional medical services to our Grantsville location.”
Over the course of the last year, GRMC has brought orthopaedics, obstetrics, and general surgery procedures to its northern Garrett facility. Now, residents of Grantsville and surrounding communities in Pennsylvania and western Allegany County can receive the care they need in one convenient location.
“Prior to a year ago, area residents would have to go out of town for common surgical procedures such as colonoscopy, rotator cuff repair, joint injections or removal of moles, lipoma, and other skin conditions,” notes Daniel J. Crable, M.D., who leads the Grantsville Medical Center and is the center’s Primary Care provider. “As with our specialty care, our Primary and Urgent Care services offer care to all ages, ranging from pediatric to geriatric patients. That has led us to seeing patient referrals from family members across multiple generations – the community’s trust in our care is very gratifying.”
The center serves a multitude of needs across a broad spectrum of medical services. Growing families can receive children’s health care services, including child and infant well checks and vaccinations. Aging adults can seek treatment for common conditions such as arthritis, COPD, diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, and general surgical procedures. Employers can also utilize Grantsville Medical Center for pre-employment screenings, drug-testing, and CDL/DOT physicals.
“GRMC works hard to assess and meet the needs of the people of this region,” says GRMC President and CEO Mark Boucot. “The services we bring to the Grantsville area are representative of the hospital’s mission; we strive to treat every patient like a member of our own family. That includes providing care where people live whenever possible. At Grantsville Medical Center, we’re accomplishing that.”
The Grantsville Medical Center is located in the Northern Garrett Industrial Park, neighboring Total Biz Fulfillment. The state of the art, 5,500 square foot facility offers exam and procedure rooms with radiography and lab services. Primary and specialty medical services are available by appointment, and continue to accept new patients. Walk-in patients are welcome at the facility’s Urgent Care, which operates seven days a week.
