Grantsville Attainable Housing Project Still Accepting Applications

The Garrett County Development Corporation announced that Garrett County’s first attainable housing project began accepting applications from interested homeowners on January 20, 2025.

The development, located in Grantsville, will be a mix of townhomes and single-family homes and will offer 63 units available for purchase. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The application process is open to any who wishes to apply. The only limitations may be the ability to qualify for a mortgage. For those needing additional assistance, first-time homebuyer programs are available for applicants who qualify.

A refundable deposit will be required when applying. Townhome applications will require a $200 deposit, while single-family home applications will require a $500 deposit.

This project has been more than a decade in the making. With perseverance from local county officials and business leaders, the project is making headway following the groundbreaking in November 2024.

The project would not be possible without the work of the land trust members, Paul Edwards, George Edwards, Blake Walker, and Liz Georg; Garrett County Government; the Garrett County Development Corporation members; and the Town of Grantsville.

Project members would also like to thank the local businesses who have dedicated their services and time to make this project possible. These include Byco Enterprises, Highland Engineering, Railey Realty, DCL Design Studio, the Maryland Department of the Environment, and the Town of Grantsville.

Those who wish to apply can do so on the community’s website, www.garrettcountyliving.com.

The website also contains further information about the Town of Grantsville, the mission of the project, and mortgage programs.

Applicants will be contacted to proceed with their applications and be partnered with a local mortgage lender.
