All Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS) will dismiss students three (3) hours early on Friday, January 12, 2024, for staff development in the afternoon. In addition, all schools and administrative offices will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024, in honor of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Schools and offices are slated to resume normal operating schedules on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Please note: if there is a 2- or 3-hour delay on Friday morning, classes will remain in session for the full day, and the early dismissal/staff development will be canceled.
Additionally, please take note of the GCPS Calendar dates below that have been adjusted due to two inclement weather/school closure days that have occurred so far this year:
- The end of the second grading period is now Thursday, January 25, 2024 (previously January 23, 2024)
- The 91st Day/Professional Day, which is an asynchronous virtual day, is now scheduled for Friday, January 26, 2024 (previously January 24, 2024)
Additional school closure days prior to the above-referenced dates will affect these dates. The end of the third and fourth grading periods and the last day of school will be determined as the GCBOE approves make-up days.
