Garrett Regional Medical Center Hosts Future Healthcare Leaders through AHEC West ECHO Program

Garrett Regional Medical Center (GRMC) was honored to welcome an inspiring group of 24 high school students last week as part of the AHEC West ECHO program—a dynamic, week-long summer initiative designed for students from Garrett, Allegany, and Washington counties who are exploring careers in healthcare.

The ECHO (Exploring Careers in Health Occupations) program offers hands-on, multidisciplinary experiences that spark interest in the healthcare field. Students engaged in immersive, interactive sessions across several departments at GRMC, including Respiratory Therapy, Outpatient Surgery, Radiology, and our Family-Centered Maternity Suite/Obstetrics.

In addition to these clinical experiences, students learned about exciting opportunities available through GRMC, including our Job Shadowing Program, Nurse Externship, and Patient Care Tech Trainee program—all aimed at supporting career exploration and development in healthcare.
