Wal-Mart of Oakland opened its arms to County United Way once again for the Annual Stuff the Bus event. Volunteers gathered in August to solicit help to “fill” a school bus with school supplies that benefit Garrett County school children.
- Items collected from Wal-Mart 6928 pieces totaling $9,932.35
- Items from Faith, Hope Images 100 totaling $250.00
- Items from J&S Surplus 629 totaling $1,171.29 (items from J&S Surplus were donated to Garrett College)
A total of 7657 pieces were collected with a dollar-value of $11,353.64. Plus, County United Way received $1,240.00 in cash donations, which will go directly to the Garrett County Board of Education.
“Garrett County Public Schools are so grateful to United Way and the staff for sponsoring this event,” said Jane Wildesen, Director of Human Resources.
