Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS) welcomed Mr. O’Marie Barnes, the Maryland State Student Member of the Board (SMOB), for a visit to Northern Middle School, Northern High School, and the Hickory Environmental Education Center earlier this week. The visit provided an opportunity for Mr. Barnes to engage directly with students and staff while gaining insight into the unique educational experiences offered through GCPS.
During the visit to Northern Middle School and Northern High School, Mr. Barnes met with students and participated in discussions about their stories, academic opportunities, and school highlights. At the Hickory Environmental Education Center, Mr. Barnes received a first-hand look at the new Tree Observation Area, along with Hickory’s educational opportunities.
