Arch Bridge Classes Held

Arch Bridge Classes Held (Deep Creek Lake, MD)

Garrett County 4-H recently conducted lessons on arch bridges. The youth had a chance to construct three different types of arch bridges: arch over, arch under, and arch through. The strength of arch bridges lies in their shape, enabling them to support significant weight without bending or breaking. They explored concepts of balanced forces in bridge construction by applying force both downward and sideways against the abutment.
