Friendsville Road (Route 42) Bridge to Close for Deck Resurfacing

Update 4/21 3:00pm: A work start date has not been determined
—————————————————————————————————————————————

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a bridge deck overlay and rehabilitation project on the MD 42 (Friendsville Road) bridge over the Youghiogheny River in Friendsville, starting April 15. The $5.6 million project is expected to be completed by August, weather permitting.

The work will require a closure of the bridge, and traffic will be detoured through Friendsville. The detour route will be using Maple Street to First Avenue to MD 42. Drivers should allow extra travel time while work is underway.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Triton Construction, Inc. of St. Albans, WV., will use electronic message boards, signs, barrels and cones to guide motorists through the work zone, road closure and detour.
