Mrs.Hafer’s Second Grade class at Friendsville Elementary School received a visit from Ashley Bachtel-Bodkins, the University of Maryland Extension Office, and the Master Gardeners of Garrett County. Students created a light maze to see if a bean plant would grow through the maze to find sunlight. They also dissected a lima bean to see its growth as well as planted tomato seeds in their own small-scale greenhouse. The Master Gardeners will be back in a few weeks to help with the transplant of the tomato seedlings which will then reside in the school greenhouse for the remainder of the year!
