The weather for the weekend will be cloudy today then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 63 and a low around 52. Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 60 and a low around 53. Sunday will also be mostly sunny, with a high near 67 and a low around 61.

The Discovery Center at Deep Creek Lake State Park has their All Day Hands-on Science Room and Scavenger Hunts on Friday.

As previously reported, the Deep Creek Lake Property Owner’s Association held their annual meeting on August 18th. Their just-released September newsletter summarizing the event, including links to some important presentations given that day.

Matt Tichon is at Black Bear Tavern and BlackingCoal is at MoonShadow Friday evening. Some good entertainment along with tasty food and drink.

The Appalachian Regional Commission recently announced approval of a $50,000 grant to Garrett Trails, Inc. for a Trail Feasibility Study of the Casselman River Railroad project. This study will assess connectivity to the Great Allegheny Passage in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania and the existing Meadow Mountain Trail System south of Grantsville in Garrett County, Maryland. Total project funding is $100,000.
