Interesting foliage throughout the state and region as a wet summer followed by an unusually warm fall led to a very different fall foliage season here in Garrett County and elsewhere.  For those readers downstate, there may still be an opportunity to catch some fall foliage according to the Fall Foliage and Festival Report put out by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

Congratulations to the Garrett County Health Department’s Population Health, Innovation, and Informatics Unit — this group received the Maryland Rural Health Achievement Award at the 2018 Maryland Rural Health Conference Annual Association Meeting & Awards Ceremony Dinner this October.

The Southern High Football Team is home Friday evening, and will match-up against Allegany starting at 7:00 pm. Root on the home team!

Run Mr. Turkey, Run! The Maryland Department of Natural Resources announced yesterday that the fall turkey hunting season will open October 27th and continue through November 4th in Allegany, Garrett and Washington counties with a bag limit of one turkey per hunter.
