The Appalachian Program at Future Generations University is hosting maple syrup tubing sanitation workshops across the region.

This Saturday, drop by the New Germany SP Lake House for this hands-on program, where Ranger Noah will be displaying a collection of furs, feathers, and skulls. Play some board games with friends and family, or kick back and watch the Lake House bird feeders to see which native birds make an appearance. Gather ’round the fireplace and stay toasty-warm during this free showing of March of the Penguins. A documentary chronicles the harrowing journey that emperor penguins make amid violent South Pole snowstorms to mate. On Sunday, join Ranger Noah for a fireside chat about the history of maple syrup making, followed by a moderately difficult 1.5-mile hike highlighting some of the tools of the trade.

This Friday, Nick Price will be live in the Lakers Lounge, The Groovy Roots at MoonShadow, and Pickin’ Empty Pockets at Sipside Lounge. On Saturday, The Groovy Roots will be at Sipside Lounge and Pronoia at MoonShadow.
