Congratulations go to HART for Animals which was just awarded a 2018 grant by the Maryland Department of Agriculture as part of their Spay and Neuter Program designed to reduce the number of unwanted cats and dogs euthanized in shelters across the state. This is the fourth year in which HART has been awarded the grant and, to date has provided 1,618 no-cost spay/neuter surgeries to low-income Maryland residents in Garrett and Allegany Counties.

The Ruth Enlow Library of Garrett County recently added 33 early literacy backpacks to its circulating collection as part of the library’s family engagement initiative. Funding for the backpacks came from the Family Engagement Grant, a total of $1250 received from the Maryland State Department of Education’s Division of Early Childhood Development (DECD).
