The moment you’ve been waiting for… Wisp Resort confirmed they are opening for the 21.22 Winter Season this weekend! The winter season will kick off with Snow Tubing on Friday, December 3 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and with Skiing and Riding to follow on Saturday, December 4 from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. The featured terrain on Saturday will be Squirrel Cage, Wisp Trail, Grouse Way, Sunset Boulevard, and Central Park Terrain Park.

Attend Christmas in the Village Friday, December 3, 2021, from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, and Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Spruce Forest Artisan Village. Come enjoy strolling and live music in the Village Church, activities in the Village buildings, hot chocolate and cider, and luminaries throughout the Village paths and over the Casselman River Bridge. In addition to the activities in the Village, there are guest artists in the Great Room above Penn Alps.

Join the Town of Oakland for A Great Small Town Christmas, December 3rd and 4th, 2021. There will be many free and family-friendly activities in downtown Oakland while you work on your Christmas shopping with handcrafted and curated gifts. A kick off with a Light Up Night on Friday at the Oakland B&O Museum. The event will start with a Walking Holiday Light Parade, led by Santa Claus, starting at the Town Parking Lot at 5:30 PM.

Check the Holiday Lights at Broadford Park Thursdays through Sundays from December 1 – 31, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. $10 per car.

Don’t miss the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7:00 PM on Friday. The Garrett Choral Society will be performing from 6:50 PM – 7:15 PM. There will be cookies and hot cocoa.

On Saturday, the fun continues with Soup N’ Santa! There will be multiple nonprofits handing out free soup (donations are appreciated), the chance to visit Santa at Smoke n Mirrors, free sleigh rides, live music, and local shopping. This event will last from 11 AM to 2 PM.

Breakfast with Santa & Santa’s Workshop will happen on Saturday from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at American Legion Post 71. Kids under 13 are free, while 13 years old above will be at $5.00 per person.

Meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, enjoy a homemade cookie, and create a holiday ornament craft at Discovery Center & Deep Creek Lake State Park Volunteers for the Holiday Open House!

The House of Hope Food Drive is celebrating its 43rd year! The annual drive will take place on Saturday from 9:00 AM-noon as part of the “Great Small Town Christmas” festivities downtown.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police is renewing its commitment to helping the state’s children have a joyful holiday season with its annual “Boatload of Toys” drive, collecting donations of new and unopened toys for local children.
