There is no indication that the national Dec 17 social media threats have any credibility; however, Garrett County Public Schools and local law enforcement will continue to monitor social media and will actively investigate any specific threat in our community. The community is encouraged not to share these messages online but to report any such threats to local law enforcement.

The American Red Cross, which provides 40% of the country’s blood, is facing historically low blood supply levels. Garrett County Health Department in Oakland will be having blood donations this Friday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Donors are urged to schedule an appointment now by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Super Saturdays for Kids includes Crafts, Games, Music, Bible Lesson, and Lunch is taking place for children ages 4-12 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN. This event is being held by the Church of the Nazarene, located at 203 South 8th Street in Oakland.

The Oakland B&O Museum will be part of a Great Small Town Christmas this Saturday from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM. Children ages 4-9 are invited to come in their pajamas. They will take part in a craft, have cookies, get to see Santa, and get a treat bag.
