Free Food Program Coming to An End

A friendly reminder is being made from the Food and Nutrition Services Department (FNS) of Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS).  The federally funded program allowing for the provision of free meals will come to an end next Thursday, August 25th, 2022.  FNS will continue to distribute meals as scheduled until the conclusion of that date.

As food service continues to transition back to pre-pandemic standards, students may still qualify for free or reduced-price meals for the coming school year by filling out a Meal Application.  This application may be completed at this time but should be completed within the first thirty (30) days of school.  Families may apply online, fill out a paper application that is being sent via USPS for returning students, or may scan the QR code below to take you straight to the application.

ALL families are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to fill out an application for each student, regardless of their desire to consume school meals or not.  Funding for GCPS from other federal and state programs is dependent on these applications as well.  Additional benefits include, but are not limited to, Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) program, school athletic and/or activity fees, internet access, SAT/ACT/AP Fees, and College Application Fees

Anyone with additional questions, concerns, or in need of assistance with an application may contact our Food and Nutrition Services Department at 301-334-8918 or email us.
