The Maryland Lacrosse League is thrilled to announce its upcoming lacrosse tournament, set to take place from June 23rd to 25th at Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. This exciting event is inspired by the passion for youth lacrosse and aims to showcase talented players displaying their skills and competing for glory.
The Maryland Lacrosse League was founded by Colin Fagan, a dedicated lacrosse enthusiast. He is coordinating the Deep Creek Lacrosse Tournament to benefit the Garrett County Youth Lacrosse team while also on a mission to bring teams together from across the Mid-Atlantic region. Fagan’s goal is to continue to develop a lacrosse league that offers players an opportunity to compete and hone their skills while fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants.
This weekend’s Deep Creek tournament is open to middle school, high school, and adult lacrosse players, attracting both seasoned athletes and rising talents from Maryland and neighboring states such as Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, and Virginia. With an anticipated participation of 900 players and 2,000 family members, the event will feature 25 teams for middle school and high school divisions, as well as 10 adult teams. The tournament also welcomes individual players to register as “free agents,” providing an inclusive space for players without a team affiliation.
Set against the picturesque Appalachian Mountains, the tournament will utilize one turf field and one grass field at each Northern and Southern High School to accommodate a 4-game minimum for each participating team. With over 8,000 followers on Instagram, the Maryland Lacrosse League has already gained considerable attention and enthusiasm from the lacrosse community.
In addition to the lacrosse matches, the tournament event aims to provide a memorable experience for participants and their families. Each high school location will include an area to keep kids entertained with local shopping and food truck options available. Vendors include Huckleberry’s Catering, Glazed and Confuzed Donuts and Espresso Alley. Spectators are invited to watch the championship matches held on Sunday, June 25 at Northern High School.
