Today’s fat bike ride adventure was 4.84 miles on, primarily, the Orange Trail with some Green Trail thrown in for connections. There was only a very slight wind with a few sprinkles of sleet. An excellent ride with 436 feet of elevation.
Conditions going up orange the “right way” (clockwise) were absolutely fantastic and peaceful. As we got closer to the ghost (ie-non-existent) shelter iykyk, there is a tree that has fallen off the trail and the root ball has created a hole you should look out for… Once we went down the “other side” of Orange, we were having snow much fun and going faster but there were buried ice tracks that caught us off guard at times.
There is a tree across the trail about halfway down the descent on the “other side” of Orange and we had to carry our bikes over it. Other trees that are down are ride-over-able.
I’d say this route would be good for fat biking, cross country skiing or snowshoeing in the next 24 hours (2/12-2/13)
