Empty Bowls Garrett County will bring together local art, food, and community on Sunday, September 20, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Wisp Resort to raise funds for programs addressing food insecurity throughout Garrett County.
Guests will enjoy a simple meal of soup, bread, and dessert provided by area restaurants and select a one-of-a-kind handmade bowl to take home as a lasting reminder that there are those in our community experiencing hunger.
Tickets are $35 for adults and $25 for children for a bottomless supper provided by Wisp Resort, Brenda’s Pizzeria, Brewery & the Beast, Pine Lodge Steakhouse, Mary Browning Senior Center, McDonald’s in Oakland, and Performance Food Group, among others.
Hundreds of unique bowls were donated by local artisans such as Lorie and Ron Skidmore, Sue Caldwell, and Lynn Lais, or created and decorated by dozens more at Deep Creek Pottery’s McHenry studio.
“We’re so grateful for the overwhelming support,” says Garrett County Community Action Committee president Chris Mullett. “Every dollar counts when fighting hunger, and so does the power of people gathered around the table for the same cause.”
Proceeds will benefit GCCAC nutrition programs including Meals on Wheels, senior dining programs, the emergency food pantry, 360 Access Hub, and other hunger-relief efforts operated by the non-profit.
