The Maryland Office of Statewide Broadband has published its Draft Digital Equity Plan for public review and comment. Initial plans for Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (“BEAD”) and Digital Equity are part of the state Infrastructure and Investment Jobs Act (IIJA) federal broadband programs. The program provides federal funding to expand high-speed internet access. Organizations can share their feedback and recommendations by December 2, 2023.

Connecting Public Housing Authorities
Last month, the Office of Statewide Broadband also released the Home Stretch for Public Housing Broadband RFP. This is millions for public housing authorities in MD to connect their residents with high speed internet. We urge you to reach out to the Office of Statewide Broadband if you have any questions. Applications are due on or before December 22, 2023. Projects must be completed by June 30, 2026.
