Deep Creek Times Announces Second Annual Deep Creek Times People’s Choice Challenge

DeepCreekTimes.com today announced the launch of the second annual Deep Creek Times People’s Choice Challenge, a “competition” designed to celebrate and recognize the Garrett County and Deep Creek Lake, MD area’s favorite experiences, services, products, and professionals. The challenge is designed to allow local businesses and individuals to celebrate all that makes the Deep Creek Lake area special and memorable.

“We are thrilled to announce the 2019 People’s Choice Challenge. The decision to continue was easy due to the strong community involvement and great competitive spirit exhibited by all of the nominees last year. In fact, last year we had about 2,500 nominees and over 175,000 votes, culminating in a fun, well-attended awards celebration in September,” stated Sarah Myers, co-owner of Deep Creek Times.

Myers and co-owner Mike Tumbarello said specific award categories will vary a bit from last year’s specific categories. In addition to categories such as favorite lake view, favorite local secret, and favorite historical attraction, voters will also be able to support their favorite products, services, and professionals.

Anyone can nominate an entrant (or entrants) in any of the categories by going to the Deep Creek Times website (www.deepcreektimes.com) from July 19th at 12:00am EST through August 2nd at 11:59pm EST.  The Deep Creek Times team will then gather and verify nominations and open the website to voting by members of the public from August 16th through September 27th.

Voters are limited to one vote (for as many nominees and categories as they wish) per device, per day.

According to Mike Tumbarello, co-owner of Deep Creek Times, “The Challenge is designed to be open, fun and to instill pride and friendly competition among the area’s nominees.  The first year was a bit of an experiment, but due to its success, the challenge will keep most of the facets of that inaugural year and build-in some new components as well. We hope to continue to build on last year’s celebration, pride and community engagement and keep the momentum growing in our great community.”

All nominations for entrants must be received by midnight EST August 2nd. All votes must be received by midnight EST September 27th.  Vying for first place “Diamond” and runner-up “Platinum” awards, finalists will be notified within one week of the voting closing.

Winners will receive a wall plaque, recognition on deepcreektimes.com and bragging rights for a year! There is another recognition celebration planned along with a special People’s Choice Challenge advertising feature for all nominees.
