The Deep Creek Lake Lions Club is proud to announce a major step forward in its commitment to inclusive play: the donation of $35,130 to support accessibility improvements and adaptive equipment at the town of Loch Lynn’s community playground.
This contribution is part of the broader Landon’s Dream initiative, which began in 2022 when the Deep Creek Lake Lions Club partnered with Tiffany Georg—mother of Landon Georg—to develop an inclusive playground in Garrett County. Inspired by Landon and fueled by the efforts of his family, friends, and community supporters, more than $24,000 was raised to support the vision of a playground where children and adults of all abilities can play, socialize, and thrive together.
Recognizing the deep need for accessible play spaces in the region, the Lions Club convened a special advisory committee to guide the creation of an inclusive playground. A countywide survey of over 500 residents and visitors confirmed overwhelming support for features and equipment that accommodate a wide range of ability levels.
With continued fundraising—including an additional $11,000 from a GoFundMe campaign—the project gained momentum. While long-term plans for a new inclusive playground in Garrett County remain underway, advocates were recently presented with an opportunity to make a meaningful and immediate impact in Landon’s own hometown.
The town of Loch Lynn is currently renovating its existing playground, and in a move to honor Landon’s original inspiration, the Deep Creek Lake Lions Club and the Georg family have committed $35,138 from the Landon’s Dream fund to enhance accessibility at this site. These improvements will ensure that the renovated playground is welcoming and inclusive for individuals of all abilities.
“We are incredibly grateful to the many donors and community members who have supported Landon’s Dream,” said Dr. Michael McCue, Chairperson for Inclusive Playground for the Deep Creek Lake Lions Club. “This contribution to the Loch Lynn playground will not only honor Landon’s legacy but also provide a joyful and inclusive play experience for countless children and families.”
The Deep Creek Lake Lions Club remains committed to the long-range vision of inclusive play across Garrett County and invites continued support as efforts move forward.
