Even though the weather did not fully cooperate, the 9th Annual Boat Parade was a huge success. We would like to thank the participants, spectators and volunteers. We had nine participants not including the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Department and the DNR.
All of the participants had incredible entries. Families and friends had creative and impressive entries. Thank you Koeppel’s (Tortugas Revenge), DeJulius’s (Top Gun), Ottobre’s (Mercantile), Gore’s (Rub-A_Dub_Tub), Coughenour’s (Yinzer Boat), Dettra’s (Liquid Assets), Hershman’s (Candy Land Craze, West’s (The Fun 50’s), Nichol’s (Pizza Party) and Kim and Jason (Grateful Lake). The voting was very close with Mercantile winning People’s Choice Award. The Hershman’s Candyland Craze won the Chairman’s flag. After the awards were presented, The Mercantile also generously doubled the money raised by their boat by matching the donations.
A special thanks goes to the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company No. 30. They finished the parade with their water boat spraying water everywhere. Besides donating to the Lions Club, please also donate to the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Company at https://dcvfc30.org/.
