Maryland Fishing Report as of December 10: Good winter action for smallmouth and walleye on the upper Potomac. Deep Creek Lake anglers can target northern pike and walleye, with possible ice fishing if cold weather continues. Trout stocking may begin in January, depending on conditions. Largemouth bass are holding deep near structure, and chain pickerel remain active statewide around sunken wood.

The Rural Maryland Council held its 2025 Annual Meeting and Rural Impact Awards on November 19 in Annapolis, celebrating seven outstanding advocates for rural communities. Honorees included John and Ann Richards for volunteer service, BAAM and Community Behavioral Health for community development, the Frederick County Agricultural Innovation Grant Program for economic impact, Delegate Steven J.
